Tomorrow Tuesday–Tron Light Cycle Coaster

All new plans have recently leaked that Disneyland will attempt to build a Tron Light Cycle Coaster.  This came after hearing that Disney Shanghai would open a Tron light cycle coaster in early 2014 and is already under construction.  Both rides are predicted to be modified Vekoma motorbike launch coasters similar to the ones in Happy World China or Flamingo Land in England.  It hasn’t been announced yet, but it is rumored that the coaster may follow parts of the old People Mover track.

The ride wouldn’t be on the old People Mover track, but actually above it and feature multiple LIM launches, as well as many high banked turns.  It would also feature the old People Mover tunnels that would project other light cycle racers zooming by.  The People Mover track featured another high speed ride called Rocket Rods from 1998 till 2001, but closed shortly after, due to many alterations that had to be made due to the high speed rockets instead of the slow moving People Mover cars which operated from 1967 to 1995.  The ride wouldn’t feature any inversions and a top speed of possibly up to 60 miles per hour.

  1. wow how exiting! so Disney will build a new track above the people mover track? will they rip out the people mover track also? and is there any new info on this? thx

    1. It’s not actually happening, or ever publicly planned. But, with the one coming to Shanghai Disneyland, and with our local Disneyland’s Tomorrowland needing a major upgrade, we started brain storming for a possible, and once rumored, Tron Light Cycle coaster. We remain hopeful. 🙂
