The New Revolution Update – January 30th 2016

20160130_132844 (Large)Not a full Six Flags Magic Mountain Update this time! Just The New Revolution, on which a lot of work has been done already, and continues to be done! In this update we’ll be looking mostly at the ride repaint and station, as well as the Carousel that’s receiving a refurbishment in repaint in the same area.

Recently our images have popped up on other sites and forums, awesome that our coverage spreads, not so awesome that no one mentioned where they got the images from. We are totally fine with our audience using our images, BUT ONLY IF credit is given to californiacoasterkings.com. Thank you!

So I initially came to the park for the amazing Legacy of Arrow Documentary, which was incredible and a review can now be found on our site, here. But of course I couldn’t go to the park, see changes on The New Revolution, and not report them. So here’s an update for you all!20160130_140712 (Large)All the footers around the ride that were previously baby blue primer, have been painted in a shade of the new color blue! 20160130_132855 (Large) And in the background you may spot the Helpful Honda Express (Orient Express) that was closed due to painting going on inside the station. Below, more and more happy repainted footers. 20160130_132912 (Large) Tatsu again photo-bombed my shot of the freshly white painted track going through the loop. 20160130_132844 (Large) Here’s a closer shot, note the guy painting it, later on in the afternoon the white support above which he’s painting was being painted blue. 20160130_132847 (Large) More supports in the last helix have been painted as well. Note that some seem to be a lt lighter blue, presumably they will receive another coat of paint. 20160130_132920 (Large) This shot captures a lot of the repainted supports and the newly painted track. Note how fresh the new white looks, and that behind the trees supports are also painted blue already. 20160130_133040 (Large) The supports on the third hill of the ride were painted last week, the track was being painted this week and today. Look, they’re painting right there! 20160130_133044 (Large) A bunch of ‘spiders’ (name of the machine the painters use to get to the track) all around the ride. Note the freshly painted supports in the back. 20160130_132933 (Large) These supports are supporting the slope of track that leads directly into the looping! 20160130_132931 (Large) Here’s the spider and painters in action. To learn more about the painting of a roller coaster and techniques involved, and seriously everything there’s to know check out our interview with Baynum’s lead foreman Steve Hickey, here! 20160130_133017 (Large) This is a good indication of what the ride will look like, fresh white track, nice blue supports. I’m totally loving it, it makes the white track POP! 20160130_133021 (Large) Over in Baja Ridge I noticed that part of the wall is gone on the side of The New Revolution. This may have just been for machinery to enter the area. Or perhaps it’ll have to do with a new Flash Pass line or something. Time will tell! 20160130_133246 (Large) Note the partially (mostly) repainted station and bridge, the red is a nice shade complimenting the the baby-blue-grayish station color. 20160130_133256 (Large) 20160130_133259 (Large) The station columns inside are now surrounded by new wood, looks like it’s a fresh brown wood that’s intended to stay. Giving the ride station a bit of an authentic look. I’m very curious to see the actual inside of the station, the old station was very dated and they seem to be going full out with this upgrade. (There was work going on inside the station as well today). 20160130_133345 (Large)Right next to the station is the lift-hill, on which painting has also started! 20160130_133417 (Large) Near The New Revolution, the Grand Carousel is still undergoing its extensive refurbishment with new materials and a wonderful repaint. 20160130_133010 (Large) They seem to have now finished painting the outside of the Grand Carousel and I’m loving the colors. Using some of the blue found on The New Revolution, as well as some retro purple and mint. Actually looks very good. 20160130_143252 (Large) Speaking of using The New Revolution’s paint… maybe they’ll have enough left to add to some parts of the Batman: The Ride track! Which’s blue paint has been peeling, revealing the old grey below. 20160130_145824 (Large) Now we brought up Batman: The Ride anyways, may as well finish this quick New Revolution Update with a Batman shot I took while at the park today!Batman Edit Jan'16 001 (Large)

      1. Hehe, I thought I heard something about that, but I couldn’t find anything before I posted. Sorry, I’m not a native and haven’t been to Cali since 2008.
