Six Flags Magic Mountain 2016 – THE NEW REVOLUTION!

1208277_origVALENCIA, Calif. — September 3, 2015 — Six Flags Magic Mountain, the “Thrill Capital of the World,” and voted by USA TODAY readers as America’s Best Theme Park, today unveiled plans for 2016 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the world’s first 360-degree looping coaster. The New Revolution, featuring newly designed trains, special ride effects and a new look, will highlight the Valencia theme parks’ 45th operating season.

The New Revolution, the beloved steel roller coaster that has thrilled over 45 million guests in its 40-year reign at the park, will be repainted a brilliant white and blue color, while newly designed trains will be fitted with lap and calf bars, and feature Americana red, white and blue colors with a silver eagle hood adornment. For coaster fans, the elimination of shoulder harnesses will provide a smoother, sleeker ride experience with more airtime.

 “We are thrilled that one of our signature coasters is getting the innovative ride updates that Six Flags is known for. With the new trains and beautiful paint colors, The New Revolution is certain to be around for many more generations of coaster fans to enjoy,” said park president Bonnie Weber.

With its new trains and makeover, The New Revolution will also feature:

  • The world’s first giant loop – 90 feet high and 45 feet in diameter;
  • Fast and furious dips and dives, built into the park’s lush hillsides;
  • Speeds of 55 mph;
  • Two minutes of thrills on 3,457 feet of track.

The original Revolution steel coaster opened on May 8, 1976 as the Great American Revolution, in honor of the country’s bicentennial celebration. Its farewell run will occur on September 7, 2015 after which the transformation will begin. For more information about The New Revolution (including artwork), visit www.sixflags.com/magicmountain

  1. Magic Mountain restoring Revolution was somewhat of a surprise for me… I guess SF brass heard coaster enthusiasts loud and clear. I guess new flat rides collection may have to wait another year.

    I figured Discovery Kingdom would get RMC renovation of Roar, but had no idea we’d see it re-themed to The Joker… the purple and green track would’ve looked better with the wood being dark gray or white. I also figured Great Adventure getting 4th dimension coaster… even though it’s a clone of Fiesta Texas’ Batman coaster, Great America and Mexico getting Justice League, and America getting Hurricane Harbor expansion.

    As for 2017… hopefully we’ll see RMC redoing Georgia Cyclone and The Boss. Maybe Over Texas receiving a much anticipated new coaster… maybe Great Adventure getting Justice League as well. We’ll find out next year.

  2. I got three season passes from the flash sale. How do I upgrade one of them to a gold pass? Would I need to go and register them before a date to get the best deal? I didn’t get four passes so I don’t get the free upgrade. Also, would I be able to go to Great America with the passes?
