Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Update – April 16th 2016

image5It’s been some time since our last Six Flags Discovery Kingdom update, but we are happy to be back providing coverage from such a wonderful park besides our Joker Updates. It was a beautiful day, with quite crowded as a result. A lot of change has occurred during our brief hiatus, so here we are to tell you all about it.

Recently our images have popped up on other sites and forums, awesome that our coverage spreads, not so awesome that no one mentioned where they got the images from. We are totally fine with our audience using our images, BUT ONLY IF credit is given to californiacoasterkings.com. Thank you!

As mentioned, there were some significant crowds at the park on my sunny Saturday visit. This is around the time when crowds start to pick up, so we all may as well get used to it.DSC_0302 (Large)

Lines were pretty massive all around, Kong’s continued one train operations of course didn’t help the matter.image5

Superman was also backed up quite a bit, filling switchback after switchback.image7

V2 is currently closed for refurbishment, and the trains are off the track. We will let you know when the ride is operating again! DSC_0306 (Large)

Just as a nerdy side note, some new capes are being offered around the park, such as a Deathstroke cape, and a Batman v. Superman Cape.image6

The Dolphin fountain can reclaim its status as a fountain. The water is being cycled through again. This is most likely, either as a result of recent rainfall, increase in attendance or both.DSC_0291 (Large)

Along similar lines, the park has stepped up their landscaping as of late. A variety of beautiful potted plants have been planted throughout and they look quite nice.DSC_0327 (Large)

Some new games have been added to the midway between the food court and entrance plaza, such as this Bob’s Fishing Hole thing.DSC_0329 (Large)

The park has begun heavily marketing the dining pass. With the replacement of Panda Express with Chop Six, there is now at least one option available on the dining pass at every restaurant in the park.DSC_0331 (Large)

Speaking of Chop Six, look, it’s Chop Six. It opened recently, and I can wholeheartedly say it is a good replacement for Panda Express. The food at least as good, and the dining pass option makes it a win in my book.DSC_0328 (Large)

Just across the midway, the old JB’s Smoke House is undergoing an extensive renovation into the new JB’s Smoke House Sports Bar. Fantastic news, this location will feature indoor seating, a very rare commodity at the park. As you can see the building is being extended for that purpose.image1

Speaking of Indoor Seating, Pacific Rim has gotten some love recently. There have been significant additions as far as theming.image3

In the outside area, street signs and large posters have been added in relation to the film.DSC_0298 (Large)

The inside queue now has short bios of each major Jaeger, including their records in battle, their weapons, pilots and of course a pretty light up picture. Just as a side note, the water effects have also been toned down significantly and are much less jarring, which is a welcome change.image2 (Large)

And The JOKER is looking STUNNING! Make sure to read our amazing new Joker Construction Update!Joker Banner 002 41616 (Large)
