Knott’s Taste of Boysenberry Festival – March 2021

Boysenberry Festival is in full swing at Knott’s Berry Farm through May 2 and it is a sanitized finger lickin’ good time!

– In the past, many of our images have been posted, featured, and shared on forums, social media platforms and websites around the web. We work hard to provide the coverage that we do, and we encourage our audience to share our content and use our images, BUT ONLY IF proper credit is given to thecoasterkings.com. Thank you! –

I’ll start by saying I attended the last Boysenberry festival in 2019 on a weekday and it was beyond packed. Even to get a food item, lines were 20 minutes. This year was completely different. With the current Covid restrictions, the limited crowds made for a very enjoyable experience. Every food cart was walk right up and it was very easy to safely distance from others. So with all that being said, let’s tour the park and eat!

In true Knotts fashion, the park was decorated beautifully. Everywhere you looked you could see wonderful Boysenberry theming.

Each guest buys a tasting card which allows you to try 5 items, as well as counting as your admission. Luckily, most of the items are large, so if you go with a group you’re comfortable sharing with then you can try a lot more items. And you are going to want to try all of these goodies! The menu was huge, with each dining location serving numerous items. I’d say there were at least 40+ items to choose from, including drinks which can also be used as a tasting credit as well.

We started out with the Philly Cheese Fries with Boysenberry Onion topping and Boysenberry Queso Dip with Tortilla Chips and Cilantro which were both great!

I highly recommend doing the 50/50. Half Boysenberry beer and half Boysenberry cider. The combo is really good and had our whole group sipping on them the whole night!

We took a break from eating to visit a recently opened stable section where you could meet horses and a donkey. It was a nice setup that I hope sticks around for a while.

The park has done a wonderful job at adjusting for social distancing. Tables have been added all over the park and it was never difficult to find a place to sit. They even repurposed the bumper cars into a seating area! Outdoor shows were being performed for guests to enjoy while they ate.

Next we tried the Boysenberry BBQ Brisket Mac and Cheese, the Boysenberry ICEE Float with Vanilla Soft Serve, & the Chicken Tenders Sandwich with Boysenberry Mayo on a Brioche Bun. All of which were really good! Camp Snoopy had a lot of Easter decorations and the whole area looked adorable.

Other foods that we tried throughout the night were:

  • Boysenberry BBQ Carne Asada Pizza Slice garnished with Cilantro and Onions
  • Beyond Meatballs with a Boysenberry BBQ Sauce over Cauliflower Cilantro Rice with Pita Bread
  • Boysenberry Bread Pudding with a Crème Anglaise
  • Chocolate Chip Cookie Pizza Slice with Boysenberry Soft Serve
  • “Hint of Lemon” Churro Bites with a White Chocolate Sugar and a Boysenberry and Chocolate Dipping Sauce
  • Boysenberry Macaron
  • Mac and Cheese Bites over French Fries with a Boysenberry Sriracha Ketchup.

WOW! I just gained 10 pounds by typing that. All of these foods were delicious, with the Pizza being my favorite thing I had the whole night.

The only item I wouldn’t recommend is the Thai Green Curry, Veggies, and Spicy Noodle Bowl with a Boysenberry Drizzle. I think the name mostly sums it up but kudos to Knotts for trying something so ambitious, even if the end result wasn’t the greatest.

Bear-y Tales is looking wonderful! Can’t wait to experience this refresh of the old classic.

Last but certainly not least is the merch! Knotts always has amazing merch and this was no exception. A popular item many people were buying were the Boysenberry plants! The plants only cost around $20 but we were told they can’t stay in the pot they come in and need to be planted to survive. Care instructions were provided as well.

…………we may have gone a little nuts with the Boysenberry clothing but can you blame us?? Maybe it’s time Knotts started a Boysenberry pop group?

Overall, it was a wonderful visit! As always, Knott’s provided a top notch experience that everyone can enjoy and gain weight at!
