California Adventure

Disney’s California Adventure opened in February of 2001, along with Downtown Disney and the Disney Grand Californian Hotel.  The park was opened to show the history and lifestyle of California.  The ride did very poorly for the first year, and some of their original attractions, such as Superstar Limo were closed, due to poor attendance.  In 2002, a Bug’s land opened, to make a more kid friendly area to the park.  In 2004, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror was added to the park, after its huge success in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida.  In 2006, Superstar Limo was replaced Monsters Inc. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue.  In 2007, Walt Disney Incorporated announced a multi year, 1.1 billion dollar expansion, even though the entire park cost only 600 million dollars to build.  The first phase of this was Toy Story Mania which was completed in 2008, replacing a merchandise and restaurant area, and the Sun Wheel was rethemed to be Mickey’s FunWheel.  The second phase was completed in 2010.  It consisted of the beginning of construction on Buena Vista Street and Cars Land, The Orange Stinger ride had its orange removed and was re themed as the Silly Symphony Swings, the World of Color show began, Maliboomer was closed, Mulholland Madness was re themed to be Goofy’s Sky School, and California Screamin’ added safety spiels done by Neil Patrick Harris.  The third phase consisted of the opening of Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, and the final stage consisted of the division of the park into 8 themed lands (Buena Vista Street, Cars Land, Paradise Pier, Condor Flats, A Bugs Land, Pacific Wharf, Hollywood Land, and Grizzly Peak), and the opening of Buena Vista Street and Cars Land.  Here is a list of the rides and attractions in the park.
