Adventure Park U.S.A. – CCK & CCCK Take the Northeast – Pt. 1

Alexander: Welcome to California Coaster Kings & Cabin Crew Coaster Kings‘ latest adventure: An American Northeast trip through Maryland, East Pennsylvania, Up-state New York, and Ontario, Canada!

We’ve got 10 parks and 60+ coasters to enjoy, so let’s get started!

– Over the years, many of our images have popped up on other sites and forums, awesome that our coverage spreads, not so awesome that not everyone mentioned where they got the images from. We are totally fine with our audience using our images, BUT ONLY IF credit is given to californiacoasterkings.com. Thank you! –

Park #1 is just an easy stop on the way from IAD airport to our hotel in Jonestown, PA: It’s Adventure Park U.S.A. in Monrovia, Maryland!

This place is home to a nicely restored Schwarzkopf Wildcat that’s been with the park just over a decade now. In 2015, a new kiddie coaster and a Zamperla Windstorm brought the charming little park’s credit count to 3.

The entrance is the park’s large arcade and entertainment area. Adventure Park U.S.A. started out as a basic Family Entertainment Center and has now made the jump to a respectably-sized regional park!

Shout-out to the manager on duty who gave us unlimited ride wristbands for $16! You da real MVP!

Family Entertainment Centers-turned-small-regional-parks is a growing trend that we love! Parks like Scandia Ontario, Adventure Park U.S.A., and the Fun Spot parks have all made impressive transitions into solid little amusement parks.

Sean is SO EXCITED for the first park of our trip! Such a cute collection of colorful vintage rides here!

Wildcat runs like a dream. Gotta love a well-loved old Schwarzkopf with a starting role at its home park. (also notice the employee under the chain lift manually operating (?) the chain motor).

Wildcat was running just one, police-themed car on our visit, but that’s all it needed on this quiet Sunday evening.

The other car on site is a taxi. :}

Wildcat got several rides from us that evening. The Wild West Express Windstorm coaster is a great ride, but not quite as re-ridable as its Schwarzkopf neighbor.

The ride operators here are very nice. They seem to enjoy their work and have a good sense of humor about giving the same verbal safety spiels to the same people riding over and over.

I love that they re-purposed an extra Wildcat car as a trailer-mounted hype-mobile for the park. Excellent advertising!

Wild West Express is definitely a crowd pleaser. Brings me right back to my weekly visits to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in the 90s! #Hurricane

Coasters aside, there’s several fun kiddie rides here, like this Wild West-themed jr. Himalaya. There’s also some Family Entertainment Center mainstays like go-karts and mini golf.

Goodnight Adventure Park U.S.A.! Thanks for being such a great first park of our trip!

Next up: the first of 3 major Pennsylvania park updates (all of which will  be written by Sean from California Coaster Kings): Knoebels!

After checking out East PA’s big 3 parks, we’ll come back to me (Alex from Cabin Crew Coaster Kings) for our 4th PA park of the trip, Dutch Wonderland!

See you soon!
